There seems to be no end to this debate that is raging on as regards the ps4 release date. There have been lots of expectations about the coming of the ps4 to the market. The conflicting signals emanating from Sony as regards the actual ps4 release date is not helping matters either. The long delay in the release of this new gaming console and the anxiety it has generated in the video game industry has attracted different reactions from the experts and followers of the computer gaming world. While some see it as a nice business strategy towards increasing the people consciousness to receive the product years ahead of its release some others may see it as a way of creating confusion in the video and console game industry.

The expectation and the interest generated by the ps4release date are as a result of the huge successes which the previous products: ps3, ps2 and ps1 have made in the gaming industry. The previous products especially the ps3 has generated enormous revenue to Sony such that it is rumored that well over 100 million copies of that product was sold in the United States of America alone and hundreds of millions in Europe and other countries of the world. Sony may be delaying the release of the ps4 in order to make ps3 make huge profits as much as possible.

Since the announcement by Sony on the ps4 release date there has been lots of speculations that have been making round as regards the types of features that would be contained in the ps4 when it is eventually released. Although not many people are sure of what features are contained or are expected to be contained in the ps4 to be released soon, it is expected that it is going to be a big improvement on their earlier products. Sony is a leading brand name in the production of quality electronics products it is therefore expected that the ps4 will incorporate a state of the art technology in its functions and operations.

The truth is that people from all parts of the world are actually anxious to see what this new product would look like and the innovative features that will make it actually look different from the earlier versions of the play stations. The worry about the ps4 release date is that nobody is actually sure as to when Sony will break its silence and state the expected date the product will hit the market. Anybody who is thinking that the ps4 release date is coming soon may have a rethink because Sony may not be in a hurry to introduce the ps4 to the market. The signals that are coming from Sony itself actually indicate that some years may actually pass before the producers of the product will release this product to the millions of customers who are anxiously waiting for this great product to land to the market.

A senior official of the marketing company that will market the product when it is released that is Hirai is not categorical as to whether the ps4 will hit the market in about five years time or not. What many people have been able to deduce from what he told the press some few years back is that the product may take up to 10 years before it hits the market.

Although there has been different reactions following the different interpretations that are given to the statement by Hirai what is very clear is that Sony will not be in a hurry to release the product until they have maximized the available profits from its earlier versions knowing fully well that a new release at a time the last release is making money in the market is to pronounce a premature death to the earlier products as they may not compare favourably.

The position of Sony is that they will take the interests of their customers at heart in the release of the new product. The interest they are talking about is the abrupt release of the version may cause anarchy in the console and gaming industry. The delay in the ps4 release date is to protect the customers who are marketing their earlier products.

The argument by Sony may not be liked by everybody especially those who have positioned themselves to make enormous gains from the product once they are released. The release of the product may not mean that the earlier versions may stop progressing in the market. Market research had shown that the first product of the play station family that is the ps1 made its first 100 million copies only when the ps2 hit the market. The same thing could be said of the subsequent productions. What this tries to suggest is that the release of any version does not spell the death of the earlier versions instead it facilitates the progress of the earlier versions in the market.

This does not mean that market behaviour will always be in the same way. There is no theory or practice that will stop the coming of the new product from affecting the performance of the other versions in the market.

The ongoing debate about the ps4 release date is very good for the product and for Sony because it helps to increase the people’s anxiety and expectations about the product. It sends signals to Sony as to what the customers they passionately care for would want to have in the new product. Many of the commentators have already started making suggestions as to what they would want the new ps4 to look like when it is eventually released. There are expectations that the product when released would have to be simple and user friendly so that people will not find it difficult to operate it. Although there has to be in improvement in terms of the technical capabilities of the product but the level of sophiscation should not be such that it would be difficult for the ordinary console game player to operate it. The product must be made to reflect the social and economic realities of the time by being environmental and economy friendly in terms of cost or affordability.
